Wilford House

Location: Tola, Rivas / Est. 2024
- Sobre el proyecto

Wilford House is a 280 m² tropical glass house located in Oxigeno Resort. Inspired by Philip Johnson’s Glass House, this project adapts traditional modern architecture to a tropical setting. The unique landscape required rethinking Johnson’s original design to ensure it fits seamlessly into the environment.

The house features three storeys with an open atrium at its heart, housing two full-sized Huachipilin trees. It includes two pools and a large open deck on the second level. Strategically placed to preserve the existing environment, Wilford House integrates with surrounding trees, offering magnificent views from the interior. The trees provide natural shade and protection for the glass exterior.

Built with glass and steel, the house is elevated on stilts to minimize environmental impact while maintaining transparency, openness, and continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces. The inclusion of a glass tower enhances the modern aesthetic and connects the structure with its natural surroundings.
